Dominican Beggars

St. Patrick Youth Group Trip to Chicago (Justice, IL)

Dominican Sisters from Columbus are planning a trip to Chicago with youth from St. Patrick Church.  With this trip we would be giving our teens, both boys and girls, an opportunity for a trip to Chicago, to spend time at the Convent engaging in a day of recollection and silence, to enjoy some fun recreational activities, to bring smiles to the residents of our nursing home, and to process with the Lord Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration upon our front grounds by our grotto and outdoor Altar.  This would be an amazing opportunity for our youth, yet, it requires much fundraising on our part to keep this trip affordable for our teens and to make this happen.

Here briefly is an outline of our projected expenses:

– 54-passenger bus from 8/10-8/13: $3350 plus driver’s room and gratuity

– Accommodations (room and board) at $30 per night X 3 nights is $90 ($4860 at 54)

– Six Flags Great America will be $35 per person. ($1890 if we fill the bus with 54)

Our Bus quote will be held until April 14, at which time we would owe a $500 deposit if we are confident by then that we will have enough funds to make this trip happen.

Of course the youth will also contribute some to the cost of the trip, but we know they each wouldn’t be able to afford nearly $200 for a 4-day trip.

We would appreciate any assistance you could offer us, large or small, to help make this trip a reality for our youth.  It would also be wonderful for them to meet more of our Sisters who live there at our Provincial House in Justice.  Thank you so much for your consideration of this request.  May God bless you!
