Vestition Day, April 29, 2010
On April 29, when the whole Dominican Order celebrates the feast of Saint Catherine of Siena, our two Postulants received Dominican habits and their religious names. It was the beginning of the next stage of religious formation: the novitiate.

Thoughts on the Vestition Day
On the day I received the Dominican Habit, I was clothed in Christ with a new life, as I was on the day of my baptism. This day marked the public announcement of my engagement with the Lord Jesus. He officially became my Fiance! Like any bride-to-be, I felt I could live the rest of my days in that joyous abundant grace which my Beloved Jesus bestowed upon me that day. My Mom and Dad were in their glory with their son-priest concelebrating Mass at the Altar and their daughter-religious, newly vested in the Habit, in the choir stall at their side. Many glances of love and thanksgiving, deeper than any words could express, were exchanged between me and my parents, my brother-priest, my Dominican spiritual Father and my Sisters and Superiors throughout this very special celebration. During the kiss of peace in the Holy Mass, we shared strong embraces with each other and united our joyful tears. Tears fell from my own eyes intermittently throughout the whole Mass, especially during consecration, when the Bridegroom came to us upon the Altar, through the hands of our beloved priests, in order to give Himself to us wholly and completely in the most Blessed Sacrament. It was a day that will live on in fond memory, joyful, moving and beautiful. Thanks be to God for the gift of vocation!
