“Saturday with Sisters” – Saturday from Sisters
As it has become the tradition of our convent in Columbus, Ohio, high school girls came this past weekend to spend their “Saturday with Sisters.” This particular time, 18 girls participated. Our meeting began with the Morning Prayer of the Church – Lauds – and the Holy Eucharist, celebrated for us by Dominican Father Cassian Derbes, O.P. After prayers, we ate breakfast in order to gain strength for the rest of our meeting. Following breakfast, Fr. Cassian gave a conference titled: “Holy women of the Dominican Order.” Inspired by the life of Our Lady and these holy women of the Order, Father talked about the strength that is in each woman, her vocation, and the important role woman plays in the world. Father also reminded us that God calls not just some of us but each one of us. God has a unique plan for every person. It depends upon us whether we open our hearts, whether we hear His call and go the right way. After the conference, we spent time worshiping Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. We began Adoration with singing to thank Jesus for His love and all that He gives us every day. There was also a time of silence, to allow God to speak to our hearts. After adoration came time for recreation – to talk and play games. We finished our meeting with lunch. After this time we spent together, we can safely say that the Good Lord had given us the gift of abundant joy that day. Deo Gratias.
