SR. SIMON, OP RENEWS HER PROFESSION FOR 2 MORE YEARS
Sr. Simon Grosicka, OP,
one of our junior sisters, renewed her profession for 2 more years! Sister’s
renewal of profession took place during the Eucharist on Saturday August 12 in
the presence of 15 sisters of our Province representing all 4 houses of the
Congregation in North America. Sisters from three other religious orders also
shared our joy along with 4 young women who consider following pure, chaste, and
obedient Christ.
The day was very celebratory. After a beautifully prepared liturgy and inspiring homily by Fr. Peter Heidenrich, the main celebrant, we met at the table with friends of ours for an extended and enjoyable lunch. Sr. Simon’s renewal of profession was first in 25 years such a celebration in the American Province of our community! Thank God for Sister’s call and her faithfulness.
Renewal of profession concluded our community’s annual retreat that this year zeroed in entirely on the subject of religious identity. To celebrate it in such circumstances only invigorated our hopes for community’s growth through the native American vocations. With unshaken hope we pray for them real heard!
Sr. Simon is 27 years old and belongs to the class of 14 who in the Jubilee Year 2000 made their first profession in Cracow, Poland. The extension of her temporary vows is the next step forward towards the most total act of self-giving that takes place in solemn vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. Sr. Simon will profess them in the year 2008 in the cradle of the Congregation in Wielowies, Poland.
